Since the second Channel Crossing we have formed into Middlesbrough Outrigger Canoe Club and hope to get involved in helping to develop this new sport.
The club has participated in The Great River Race on the Thames, tackled the Caledonian Canal, the Farnes and the Coquet Island Race.
Members of the club have travelled to Hawaii to see the end of the Molokai Hoe (the outrigger race), thanked in person some of the original crew, participated in the Liberty Challenge in New York and met some amazing outrigger canoeists from around the world.
Middlesbrough Outrigger Canoe Club was one of the pioneers of outrigger canoeing in the United Kingdom. We also have links with OCUK in London, the Royal Canoe Club in London and fledgling clubs in Cornwall and Stafford.
