Chinese New Year – Pipe Bridge Paddle

On Saturday 28th January Powerhouse took to the Tees for a Chinese New Year paddle to the pipe bridge, approximately 13k. We had 3 of our juniors and 2 guests in the boat. On the return journey we saw the local seal who popped up to see what all the fuss was about. What a great morning.

Powerhouse Dragonboat Racing Club are offering you the opportunity to raise money for your chosen charity by entering a Dragonboat race on the River Tees in Stockton on April 11th 2015. You can enter up to 4 crews of 11 people (10 paddlers and a drummer) into the race against other charities in the area.

It's £150 per crew, per entry, and you get a training session with the club (to be booked once registered to race) within the cost, so your team can be 'race ready'.

All participants should be 13years and over, be able to swim and wear gym like clothing to take part.

    Dragonboat Memorial Planter

This year we have all been busy in front of the watersports centre converting our old club boat into a memorial planter in remembrance of Powerhouse dragonboaters who have sadly passed away:

    – Ernie Butterfield ex Hartlepool Powerman & later Powerhouse helm passed away 30th April 2010.

    – Dot Hart GB Senior ladies gold medal winner & Powerhouse paddler, passed away 22nd September 2012 after a very long battle with cancer.

An inscribed brass plaque will be mounted to the front of the dragonboat planter.
